What to Expect at Your First Visit

In your first session, the counselor typically will ask certain questions about you and your life. This information helps us make an initial assessment of your situation. Questions we might ask include: Why you sought counseling, Your personal history and current situation.
The counselor will use this information to better understand your problem. It's important to keep in mind that counseling is a team effort so we recommend: Participating, Being open and honest, Asking questions, and come to your first session with realistic expectations. Counseling is not a quick fix for any problem, rather it is a process.
